As a life long art fan I never dreamed that I could commission a painting. Before the Internet there just wasn't any way to get close access to an artist. If the opportunity to buy a painting came up it was just too expensive to buy an original painting. So, like most people I settled on store prints or posters of paintings. I remember getting excited when I would find a rack at the store with merchandise with names on them; like pens or stickers. That always led to disappointment because they never had my name.
